How do I apply to the MERKUR GROUP?

Please only apply online, using our APPLY DIRECTLY button in the JOB VACANCIES section and not via e-mail or by post. This is cheaper for you and is also more environmentally friendly. In addition, this ensures that your application finds its way correctly to us faster.

What application documents are required?

In order for us to be able to make a first impression of you, we need a current CV in table format, a brief cover letter as well as your most recent job references. If we are still missing something, we will contact you. You can then simply e-mail us the missing documents.

What are the hallmarks of a good CV?

1. Full contact details (name, address, telephone number and an e-mail address) are important.

2. A structured layout makes it easier for us to read:

  • Start with your current job (reverse-chronological order).
  • Explain your positions to date with 3 to 5 bullet points (the more recent the position, the more detailed the description).
  • Emphasise your qualifications and experience.

3. Take care to ensure there are no spelling mistakes and that all dates, etc. are correct.

What format should my application documents be in?

To ensure that your documents are displayed properly in our application management system, please send them in PDF format only (max. 25 MB).

Are the job advertisements on the website always up to date?

Yes, we always keep our Careers page fully up to date. As long as the job is online, feel free to submit your application.

Can I apply on spec?

You are sure that we don’t have any suitable job advertised but your qualifications are nonetheless suited to our company? It is worth looking through our numerous job vacancies in detail. By applying directly for an advertised position, an inspection of your documents/the selection process can begin straightaway. Please understand that it takes significantly more time to examine applications that are made on spec, as we need to forward these to our various departments group-wide.

Can I make multiple applications?

If you think that your skills and knowledge match several of our jobs, you are welcome to submit multiple applications. The important thing is that you apply separately for each internship using the online form.

Are there application deadlines that I must observe?

No, there are no application deadlines attached to our positions. If the job is online, feel free to submit your application!

Who should I contact if I have questions regarding my application or an internship advertisement? Who is my contact person?

General questions in relation to your application can usually be answered directly. For detailed queries, we will put you in touch with the correct contact person.

What is the application process after I have sent in my application?

After you have sent us your application, you will receive an automated message and then later separate confirmation of receipt once we have checked your data and documents in more detail. If your profile matches the advertised job, we generally conduct a preliminary interview over the phone. If both parties are interested, we then invite you to an interview in person. After the first interview, we might carry out a “get to know you” day and/or a second interview, depending on the job.

What can I do if I don’t hear anything back for a long time?

If the processing of your application takes longer, you will receive a separate notification that the selection process has been delayed. Please understand that, depending on the time of year, this may be due to annual leave or unforeseen illness. You can, of course, use our special phone line for candidates to inquire about the current status of your application at any time.

Can I withdraw my application? And what would then happen with my data?

You can, of course, withdraw your application at any time. Please let us know by e-mail or phone us. Your personal data will then be deleted in compliance with the law.
